What is the Blind Cash-Out Till Function?

Blind cash-out requires staff to reconcile cash and checks at the end of their shift without notifying them of the exact amount they are expected to return. They have to count the cash & checks and report the total to the system without knowing what it's “supposed” to be.

The purpose of this function in summary is to keep the staff honest and to save time during the reconciliation phase.

  • At the end of each shift, staff are responsible for their "float" or starting cash balance once the float amount is subtracted from the till, the remaining amount is your cash to remit.

  • Once a till is closed the staff will enter the total cash and check amount that remains after subtracting the float amount

  • If a shortage or overage is NOT detected the till will be successfully closed and auto-reconciled

  • If a shortage or overage IS detected the shortage or overage will be displayed and an opportunity will be given for the staff to write a note to explain the discrepancy. This till will then be required to be reconciled by a manager or supervisor
